Akios S-Line 656 CTM GRX Reel (Gunsmoke) The Master of Distance by Gerrys Fishing

The Akios 656 CTM GRX is the undisputed flagship of the S-Line range, designed for the angler who refuses to compromise on distance or durability. Finished in a sleek, tactical Gunsmoke, this reel is a masterclass in engineering, blending the rugged built-to-last feel of classic multipliers with modern, cutting-edge casting technology.

What sets the 656 CTM apart is its Dual Braking System. By combining both centrifugal and magnetic brakes, Akios has created a reel that is incredibly forgiving for those new to multipliers, yet can be tuned by seasoned casters to achieve massive, horizon-reaching distances. With its open-cage design and upgraded components, this is the ultimate tool for the serious shore angler.

Precision Engineering & Control

• Dual Braking System: Features both internal centrifugal blocks and an external Long Mag Knob for micro-adjustments during the cast, virtually eliminating overruns.

• High-Torque Power: Equipped with precision-cut brass gears and a 5.3:1 ratio, providing the winching power needed to pump heavy leads and big fish through the surf.

• Free-Floating Spool: The spool sits on a larger, reinforced spindle to prevent distortion under pressure, allowing it to spin with incredible freedom for maximum yardage.

• Premium Bearings: Fitted with ABEC 5 stainless steel bearings for a silky-smooth retrieve and a corrosion-resistant Instant Anti-Reverse (IAR) bearing for rock-solid hook sets.

• Carbon Multi-Disc Drag: A butter-smooth drag system that stays consistent even when a heavy Bass or Smoothhound is stripping line at pace.

Where to Use the Akios 656 CTM GRX

This reel is a versatile powerhouse, built to handle the demanding conditions of the British coastline:

• Long-Range Beachcasting: The gold standard for clean and mixed ground beaches where hitting the far sandbars is the key to finding the fish.

• Pier & Jetty Fishing: The high-torque winding power makes it easy to lift fish or heavy rigs up the side of tall structures.

• Targeting Hard-Hitters: Ideal for Ray, Smoothhound, and Bass fishing, where you need a reliable drag and a reel that wont flex under the strain of a powerful run.

• Tournament Casting: Thanks to the ABEC 5 bearings and mag control, this reel is a frequent choice for anglers looking to hone their casting skills on the field.

Gerrys Pro Tip: The Long Mag Knob is a game-changer. Start with the mags fully on, and as you feel the lead reach its peak, slowly dial them back to let the spool flyits the easiest way to add an extra 20 yards to your cast!
