Avid EXO Extension Cap: The Ultimate Session Upgrade

Double your footprint, double your comfort. At Gerrys Fishing, we know that the Avid EXO is one of the fastest-pitching shelters on the market, but sometimes a quick-set bivvy needs a bit more living room for those week-long sessions or social trips. The Avid EXO Extension Cap is the perfect modular solution, transforming your standard EXO into a dual-compartment basecamp with a massive dedicated porch area.

Constructed from the flagship 20,000mm hydrostatic head EX fabric, this extension is as tough as it gets. It doesnt just add space; it adds a level of protection and versatility that turns a shelter into a home. Whether you need a place to cook out of the wind, a mudroom for wet gear, or a social hub to host a brew for your mates, the Extension Cap handles it with ease while matching your bivvys khaki brown aesthetics perfectly.

Pro Tip from Gerrys Fishing

The Dry-Zone Strategy: In the winter, use the Extension Cap as your wet area. Keep your boots, wet coats, and bait buckets in the porch, and keep the main EXO capsule for your bedchair and electronics. By keeping the moisture in the extension, youll significantly reduce condensation in your sleeping area, making those freezing nights much more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does this replace the front of my EXO bivvy?

No, it sits over the front. You can actually leave the front panel of your main EXO zipped in for a two-room apartment feel, or remove it to create one massive, open-plan tunnel.

Is it hard to set up alone?

Not at all. Once the support bars are in place, the Extension Cap simply pulls over the front of the bivvy and pegs down. It adds maybe 5 minutes to your total setup time.

Can I use the side doors for a link setup?

Yes. The dual side doors are great for positioning your barrow or even parking a second small bivvy next to it for a shared social area.

Does it help with condensation?

Massively. By creating a porch, youre essentially adding a huge buffer zone between the outside air and your sleeping quarters, which helps stabilize the internal temperature.
