The Grass Piece from Bass Puzzle is an innovative hybrid lure that combines the advantages of a spinnerbait with the intense vibrations of a chatterbait. Its particular strength: It swims steadily through the water even without an additional trailer and is also ideal for areas with dense vegetation. Equipped with an ultra-thin 0.2 mm blade, it immediately delivers high-frequency, buzzing vibrations that entice even cautious predatory fish to strike. The blades special mounting ensures that it tilts sideways as it sinks, slowing down the Grass Piece and giving the lure a shimmying action right from the start. The Grass Piece is therefore an excellent solution for targeting predatory fish at specific spots such as sunken trees or in gaps in the vegetation.

Advantages of the Grass Piece:

Unique hybrid performance: It combines the perfect swimming stability of a spinnerbait with the strong vibrations of a chatterbait. This means it swims perfectly straight even without a trailer and will not break out!
Extremely sharp action thanks to the 0.2-mm blade: The ultra-thin blade reacts instantly to every twitch and generates high-frequency vibrations that trigger strikes from perch, zander, black bass, and pike in particular.
Compact design for better casts and strikes: The extremely short arm ensures a compact profile. The result: more stable, longer casts and significantly better hook-up rates, because the fish can fully inhale the lure and still get hooked cleanly.
Strong 4/0 hook for trophy fish: Despite its compact size, the Grass Piece is equipped with a 4/0-class hook. This gives you the necessary power reserves even when fighting large fish in dense cover.
Versatile with or without a trailer: Fish it solo for a fast, aggressive search, or better yet, attach a slim soft plastic lure (e.g., a 4.8″ Sexy Impact or a 1015 cm soft plastic worm) to give it a shimmy fall for vertical presentations.
FAQ

What is the advantage of the Grass Pieces short arm?

The extremely short arm improves hook-up rates, prevents snags, and makes it possible to use the extremely thin and lightweight blade. All in all, this design is responsible for the Grass Pieces unique sound and action.

Do I have to use a trailer, and what does it do?

No, thanks to its excellent tracking, the Grass Piece is effective even without a trailer. However, if you attach a trailer, such as a stickbait approximately 12 cm (5 inches) long, the lure gains a shimmy fall. This makes it extremely attractive even while falling.

What tackle is recommended for the Grass Piece?

We recommend a rod approximately 2.10 m long in the medium-heavy class. For the reel, a slower gear ratio (6.x:1) is suitable for colder water (winter to spring), while a faster one (7.x:1) is better for warmer water (summer to fall). A 16 lb fluorocarbon line perfectly rounds out the setup; if using braided line, we recommend using a longer fluorocarbon leader.
