Deer hair is a very useful and excellent fly tying material. Deer hair contains air pockets inside the individual hairs, making them perfect for dry flies. Deer hair is also the material used for muddlers. We have several different types of deer hair suited for different purposes. The deer hair belly is perfectly suited to tie muddlers and bigger flies. Deer hair belly is dyed on white hair and the colours are therefore very clear and vibrant. The select deer hair is good for both muddlers and dryflies, this is dyed on the natural coloured deerhair and this gives some nice toned colours. The fine/short deerhair is best suited for dryflies and is perfect as wings on mayflies, sedges, caddis or stonefly imitations At the same time, the colors are the BEST for Danish salmon and sea trout.
So this material will dress all the flies and if there are flies for salmon or sea trout, a fly with Mudlerhair head will be a good bet
