Halco Laser Pro 160 16cm | 30g: The Versatile Mid-Size Speedster

The Halco Laser Pro 160 is the compact powerhouse of the Laser Pro family. At Gerrys Fishing, we recommend the 160 for anglers who want the record-breaking performance of the 190 but in a slightly smaller profile to match smaller baitfish like sardines, herrings, and small mackerel. Despite its lighter 30g weight, it remains an absolute reference for trolling, designed to withstand the vicious strikes of large marine predators.

Equipped with the best Halco technology, this lure is a must-have for targeting Tuna, Kingfish, Mackerel, and large Bass in both local and exotic waters.

Engineering & High-Speed Performance

• Record-Breaking Trolling Speeds: Like its larger siblings, the Laser Pro 160 breaks all speed records, remaining stable and effective at trolling speeds up to 11 knots. This makes it an elite search lure for covering vast areas of the ocean quickly.

• Dual Depth Versatility: The 160 comes equipped with two interchangeable lips (bibs). This allows you to switch between a Standard (ST) depth and a Deep Diver (DD) depth, ensuring you can target predators whether they are holding near the surface or deeper in the water column.

• Bulletproof Construction: Featuring Halcos high-impact material and reinforced internal structure, this lure is built to be formidable against the crushing power of pelagic species.

• Secure Hardware: As an integral part of the lure body, the hook anchoring points are heavily reinforced to ensure that even a record-breaking fish wont pull the hooks out of the frame.

Tactical Applications

The Laser Pro 160 is a technical tool designed for maximum flexibility. The Gerrys team suggests:

• Matching the Hatch: When predators are keyed into mid-sized baitfish, the 160s profile is often more effective than the larger 190. It provides the perfect snack-sized target for Yellowtail and Albacore.

• The High-Speed Burn: When moving between marks, troll the 160 at 9-11 knots. Its tight, aggressive vibration at high speeds creates a massive acoustic signature that draws fish from the depths.

• Inshore/Offshore Crossover: Because it weighs only 30g, the 160 is much easier to cast than the larger models. This makes it an excellent choice for casting into surface-breaking schools or washes around rocky headlands.

• Color Strategy: Use the Chrome and Metallic finishes for high-speed trolling in bright conditions to create a strobe-like flash that triggers reflex strikes.

Gerrys Verdict:

The Halco Laser Pro 160 (16cm/30g) is a top-tier trolling minnow that offers the perfect balance of size and strength. Its ability to break speed records while offering two interchangeable lips makes it a high-value addition to any offshore arsenal.10 Whether you are fishing the UK coast for specimen Bass or the tropics for Tuna, the 160 is an absolute reference
