Shimano Aero X1A Distance Feeder 12ft 100g Entry-Level Distance Specialist

The Shimano Aero X1A Distance Feeder 12ft is a game-changer for anglers seeking long-range performance on a budget. At Gerrys Fishing, we find this 12ft model to be the perfect introduction to distance feeder fishing. While many rods in this price bracket rely on heavy composite materials, the X1A is built on a Full Carbon blank, offering a lightweight and responsive feel that makes casting a 100g feeder feel effortless rather than a chore.

The 12ft Distance model is designed to bridge the gap between mid-range accuracy and long-range power. With a 100g casting rating, it has the backbone to punch feeders into a headwind, yet it retains a subtle, forgiving action in the upper sections to ensure you dont pull hooks when a big fish is under the rod tip. The 2-piece construction is a major benefit for the modern angler, allowing the rod to be transported in a ready-rod bag for instant setup.

Where to Use the Aero X1A Distance 12ft

This rod is an exceptionally versatile tool for both commercial and natural venues.

• Natural Reservoirs: Perfect for targeting Bream and Skimmers at 50m70m. The 100g power rating allows you to use heavy bullet feeders to maintain accuracy in open-water conditions, while the carbon tips provide excellent bite detection for shy-biting silvers.

• Large Commercial Venues: Ideal for launching large Method or Hybrid feeders to the middle of the lake. It has the strength to control double-figure Carp and the length to help steer them around marginal snags during the net stages.

• Medium Rivers: A great choice for rivers like the Ribble or the Weaver. It has enough power to hold a 60g80g feeder in a steady flow, making it a reliable choice for Chub, Barbel, and Bream.

Gerrys Pro Tip: Because this rod is part of the Aero family, its actions are custom-tuned. For the best casting performance, pair it with a 4000 or 5000 size reel. The Shimano Hardlite guides are designed to be used with both monofilament and braid, but if youre pushing for that 70m+ mark, we recommend using a 0.10mm braid with a mono shock leader for maximum efficiency.
