Shimano Sienna Spinning 2.69m (3-21g) | The Light-Lure All-Rounder

At Gerrys Fishing, we know that starting your lure fishing journey shouldnt be complicated or expensive. The Shimano Sienna Spinning series is the ultimate entry-level range, designed to perfectly complement the world-famous Sienna reel.

This 2.69m (810) model is a fantastic choice for the angler who wants to fish light. With a casting weight of 3-21g, it is sensitive enough to flick out small spinners and soft plastics, yet long enough to give you incredible control over your lure and the fish. Built with a Full Carbon blank, it offers a level of performance and feel that is rare at this price point.

Key Features for the Modern Angler

• Full Carbon Construction: Unlike cheaper composite rods, the Siennas full carbon blank is lightweight and responsive. This means you can fish all day without fatigue and feel exactly what your lure is doing under the water.

• Moderate-Fast Action: This versatile action is incredibly forgiving. It helps beginners achieve great casting distance with ease and provides a smooth, progressive bend that prevents hooks from pulling out during a fight.

• Shimano Hardlite Guides: These durable, lightweight guides feature stainless steel frames and aluminum oxide liners. They are designed to handle the friction of modern braided lines as well as traditional monofilament.

• Modern EVA Split Grip: The stylish EVA handle doesnt just look great; it provides a comfortable, non-slip grip in all weather conditions and integrates perfectly with the ergonomic DPS reel seat.

Use Example: Finesse Perch and Light Estuary Fishing

Imagine a calm morning on a local canal or a sheltered estuary. Youre using a 5g jig head with a small soft plastic paddle tail, targeting Perch or schoolie Bass around structure.

The 2.69m length allows you to stay back from the waters edge to avoid spooking fish, while the sensitive tip lets you feel the lure thumping as you work it back. When a fish grabs the lure, the Moderate-Fast action allows the rod to load up smoothly, ensuring a solid hook-up without snapping light fluorocarbon leaders. Its the perfect tool for mastering finesse techniques without breaking the bank.
