Sonik AVX 10000 Surf Reel

An In-Depth Look at the Sonik AVX 10000 Surf Reel

The Sonik AVX 10000 Surf Reel is a purpose-built, long-cast fixed spool reel designed to meet the specific demands of the modern UK shore angler. This reel is engineered to be a reliable and high-performing workhorse, offering a perfect blend of casting excellence, a powerful drag, and a durable construction that can withstand the harsh realities of the British coastline. It offers a premium feel and a suite of high-end features at a very competitive price point.

Core Specifications and Technology

• Robust Body and Rotor: The reel is constructed with a strong yet lightweight high-strength carbon composite body and rotor. This material is a perfect choice for a surf reel as it is naturally resistant to saltwater corrosion and provides a rigid frame to support the internal gears. The weight of the reel is a manageable 752g, which helps reduce fatigue during long sessions of continuous casting and retrieving.
• Superior Bearing System: The AVX 10000 is fitted with an impressive 14+1 stainless steel shielded bearing system. This high number of bearings ensures a remarkably smooth and effortless retrieve, which is a pleasure to use during a long day of continuous casting and winding. The shielded bearings are crucial for a saltwater reel, as they provide excellent corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
• Worm Drive Oscillation System: The reel is built with a worm drive system. This advanced gearing system provides incredibly precise and slow oscillation, which is a vital feature for achieving perfect line lay on the long, coned spool. The slow oscillation prevents the line from digging into itself under pressure and minimizes the risk of wind knots and tangles, allowing for significantly longer and more accurate casts.
• Powerful and Sensitive Drag: The reel is equipped with a sensitive front drag system. This drag is designed to be smooth and consistent, giving you the confidence to play big fish from a distance. Its sensitivity also makes it ideal for fishing with low-diameter lines, as it provides a progressive drag that protects against breakages.
• Added Value: The reel comes supplied with a spare deep spool. This is a huge benefit for the UK angler, as it allows for immense versatility. You can have the shallow spool loaded with a thin-diameter braided line for maximum casting distance and the deeper spool loaded with a heavier mono for fishing over rough ground, all with the same reel. The reel also features a rotor lock with an open bail arm, a large diameter titanium-coated bail arm, and a folding handle with a soft-grip rubber knob.

  • Gear Ratio: 4.8:1
  • Weight: 752g
  • Line Capacity (shallow spool): 300m of 0.20mm
