Sunset Shock Rig RS Competition Baccarat Crystal | The Specialists Rig Body

When you are targeting large fish in demanding conditions, your rig is only as strong as its backbone. The Sunset Shock Rig RS Competition Baccarat Crystal is a high-performance monofilament specifically engineered for the construction of heavy-duty sea rigs. Built from a latest-generation copolymer, it provides the perfect balance of give and grit required for modern saltwater angling.

At Gerrys Fishing, we recommend the RS Competition series for anglers who need a rig body that can handle the violent forces of power casting while maintaining enough suppleness to present baits naturally. The Baccarat Crystal transparency ensures your setup remains nearly invisible underwater, even when using high-diameter lines for heavy fishing.

Why Controlled Elasticity Matters

Unlike standard stiff fluorocarbons, this copolymer monofilament features a calculated amount of stretch. This is a massive advantage for two reasons:

1. Powerful Hooking: The slight spring in the line helps drive the hook point home when a fish strikes at speed.

2. Fish Retention: It acts as a shock absorber during the fight. When a large fish (like a Ray or smooth-hound) makes a sudden lunge, the line stretches rather than snapping or tearing the hook out, preventing lost fish at the side of the boat or in the surf.

Where to Use: Recommended Scenarios

The Shock Rig RS is a versatile powerhouse for various heavy-duty setups:

• Heavy Sea Rig Bodies: The ideal choice for building Pulley Rigs, Up-and-Over Rigs, or heavy-duty Flappers. It has the diameter to resist tangles but the flexibility to coil neatly in your rig wallet.

• Rough Ground Fishing: Its high abrasion resistance makes it perfect for fishing over kelp, boulders, and sharp flint. It can withstand the scuffing that would snap inferior lines.

• Specimen Hunting: Whether you are targeting Large Cod, Bass, Conger, or Rays, this line provides the structural integrity needed to winch heavy weights through the tide.

• Shock Leader Application: In its higher diameters, it makes an excellent, smooth-casting shock leader that knots beautifully to your main line, providing a cushioned hit when the lead takes flight.

The Gerrys Fishing Verdict

The Sunset RS Competition Baccarat Crystal is all about smooth power. It feels exceptionally slick to the touch, which helps it glide through rod rings and reduces friction during the cast. Because it is available on 100m spools, it offers fantastic value, allowing you to build dozens of high-quality rigs from a single purchase. Its a professional-grade material that doesnt compromise on strength or presentation.

Gerrys Tip: Because this is a high-performance copolymer, we recommend using a 4-turn Grinner Knot or a Uni Knot when tying to swivels. Moisten the knot thoroughly before tightening; the smooth finish of the Baccarat Crystal will allow the knot to seat perfectly every time without friction damage
